Our Story

Since 1993 the MetroED Foundation has supported the Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) in its mission to prepare high school and adult learners for high wage, in-demand occupations essential to our community and our economy.

We see MetroED’s Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways as the model to meet the challenges of the global workforce, close the digital divide, promote educational equity, and offer life-changing career opportunities.

Simply, MetroED trains essential workers. Career-minded people who want to continue their education to staff medical and emergency front lines, someday build the next generation robot, or expertly fix your automobile right…the first time.

In addition to technical skill building, our students internalize soft skills employers expect and learn life skills they need to be self-sufficient. MetroED helps them plan a career that will lead to long-term success.

Our Foundation helps keep MetroED growing to meet the needs of our local workforce. We also unite financial and community resources to help students succeed and provide scholarships to deserving students who would otherwise be unable to attend MetroED.
